I've heard about this restaurant while they were still in the Richmond District during the period after March 2020. I saw a pop-up by a chef that I fanned throughout those years before he finally opened a brick and mortar later in the Mission. My generous friends gave me a gift card here but I never got a chance to dine here. After reading about their closing this past Sunday, I called my gracious friends and we agreed to have an early dinner on the eve of their close. Booking our reservation on OpenTable, I thought we might be dining outside as that was mentioned in the resy email. My friends arrived early and were already seated at a window table facing Vallejo St. in the front dining area. I received a text and email that morning and shared it. We skimmed through the menu but did not read the details other than the tasting menu was the only meal offered for the next two evenings. I thought that each section had menu options, but it turned out that the meal includes all of the items served family style. Here's what we enjoyed: Beverage 1. Champagne cocktail, non alcoholic (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=TKE69G_337pHjCU6mdiYUA) - Prima Pave, sugar, lemon, bitters. Refreshing and bubbly, this cleaned my palate and quenched my thirst. Amuse 1. Butternut squash soup https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=Ks2QjXf6xEzUN6FFRUa13g() - Garnished with herb oil, this was a warming start to our meal. First 2. Buttermilk fried chicken (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=0RkebdPhDnSAolkjV7JUEA) - Brined and sous vide thigh meat, Calabrian chili aioli, lemon kosho. We were apportioned two pieces each and the meat was tender (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=PQHd2U182x4ZnkWnqiRy7g), not dry. 3. Tomatero Farms heirloom tomato and burrata (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=DSh51ppHk3KRYB4QR1hFhA) - Buttermilk hijiki ranch dressing, basil-dill oil, crispy rice, + amaranth. A good balance of the refreshing flavors from the tomato with the rich and creamy burrata. Main 4. House rigatoni (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=XAtMpteMS38jiAZ1_-WS8w) - Delicata squash, sheep ricotta, heirloom tomatoes. A hearty pasta dish utilizing fresh local ingredients. 5. Sonoma Farm duck leg confit (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=9xL9XZ4QeGevx9ROpJ1H1g) - Stewed gigante beans, duck jus, heart of palm. The duck was not overly dry, being confit, and the meat was off the meat tender. The beans soaked up the jus but the hearts of palm were subtle. 6. Roasted potatoes + brussel sprouts (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=F5E6HRlkDbad4a-ulGBo_A) - Leek vinaigrette, Spanish octopus. Not reading the ingredients carefully, I cannot remember whether I tried the octopus and the pieces meshed in with the other ingredients. Dessert 7. Red wine poached pear (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=1zCiLRT3cR6NKtFk8owRaQ) - Creme Anglaise, blood orange sorbet (vegan without dairy). I enjoyed this lighter dessert meal and finished the blood orange sorbet. 8. Butterscotch Panna Cotta parfait (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=ZbG19z4-vtECO_aI2cw8Rw) - Almond streusel, stewed apple. It was tasty with a good mix of crunch from the almond streusel, not too heavy. Sides 9. House baked Parker House rolls (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=vYr07oWC6-ddfOQbNkz2Xg) - Garlic aioli, wakame butter. These were addictively good and a great complement to the butter. 10. Truffle cheese fries (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=2w-KiJasuqOEf8oa8d6FkQ) - Euvites delicacies' truffle oil, pana gradano, truffle mayo. Larger cut fries with large pieces of shaved cheese on top. Getting an early 5:15 pm reservation was advantageous as there was only one other occupied table when we started our meal. Our service was relaxed and casual when we started but, by the time we were finishing our mains, the dining room was full and the staff were scrambling to meet all the tables' needs. It was nice meeting the lady owner and our waiter was friendly and detailed in describing the future for the restaurant. Thank you, Alan, the gentleman at the host stand, and the owner(s) for providing an enjoyable one and only experience of Cassava for me. Wishing you a successful future with your next iteration.

This place is amazing! I did a buy out for a company event and from the start working with Cassava was a stellar experience. The owner, Yuka, was so prompt, professional and helpful. She was able to get me set up, help me plan my event and responded quickly to questions. Also the venue is so beautiful, clean and exquisitely designed. The food is also so delicious! My guests loved it. Also unlike some venues there was plenty of food, constantly refreshed and they even gave us boxes and encouraged us to take the leftovers home which everyone happily did. Finally every one of the staff were so focused on keeping everything stocked, cleaned and helping us with all our needs. Shoutout to Justice who was joy! But every one of the staff is top notch. I highly, highly recommend Cassava for your next event professional or personal.

Gorgeous French restaurant in north beach! Come hungry, we ordered seasonal offerings and had great service. The interior is elegant and the service is a bit slow, but meant for a meal you take your time on.

ATTENTION ATTENTION: Three of us saved $105 on the wine pairing just by checking in on Yelp! It's $35/person, so if you're planning on enjoying wine with your meal, definitely check in to get this insane deal. Cassava delivers on every front, excellent food, perfectly portioned, and a staff that's attentive and professional. You can tell right away this is a "$$$" spot, not your average "$". I felt fancy and rich when they introduced a new wine with each course, presenting the bottles and pouring them with such class. The three-course meal was portioned just right, not too much, not too little. You won't leave hungry nor too full. Highly recommend Cassava.

Have enjoyed cassava since its original location in outer Richmond. The Japanese breakfast is the go to for me. The small sampling platter was okay but not memorable (definitely see some nordic influences) Came during RW (but ordered regular menu) - the service was okay but not super attentive on a Sunday morning

Came to Cassava for the first time for a girls night before heading to Cobb's. Loved the interior/decor and outdoor seating option. It was so nice being seated by their large windows and people watch. Sadly don't remember our server's name, but he was so nice and attentive (remembered he had great earrings and a nose ring). We also had a great server come who was wearing a hand to the chef pin/brooch. Service was a stand-out for sure - they were warm and helpful without being intrusive, Cassava staff is a highlight. We ordered the 3 course menu for 52$/person. They offered us the pairing option without being pushy at all (like at some other restaurants we've been to). I had the little gem salad, sea bass and bread pudding. Everything was SO flavorful, so perfectly seasoned. I was a little unsure at first because of prices, but the menu was well worth it - great quality and quantity. I will definitely come back and try more of their menu!

This is my second time coming to Cassava, food was fantastic. Highlights for me were the prime rib and Dungeness crab toast. Not sure how to word it, but the prime rib was actually cut the kind of with the grain(?) which actually changed the way it tasted in a good way! The mashed parsnips had a subtle, enjoyable sweetness to go along with the amazingly tender prime rib. The only blip was one of the cocktails i had, the Adonis, tasted a little like cough medicine. (Maybe it says more about me as a person but i didn't mind it, it was just strange ) Server was incredibly kind and sweet.
